How much does it cost to visit the Museum?

All activities and exhibits are included with admission. Admission is $12 per person; $8 for seniors 65 and up, active duty military and students with ID; $6 for children (2-17). Children under 2 years of age, Museum members and American Airlines employees (with employee ID) and their immediate family (D2’s and D2P’s) enjoy free admission.

What are the Museum Store hours?

The Museum Store is open Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting June 1, the store will additionally be open Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our special summer hours!

Where can I park?

The Museum has free parking for its visitors adjacent to the Museum entrance. For accessible parking information, please call 682-278-9085.

How do I get to the Museum?

The Museum is located at 4601 Texas Highway 360 at FAA Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76155

Driving Directions:

From Dallas: Take Hwy 183 West and exit at FAA Road. The Museum is on the right.
From Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (3 miles south): Take the south exit from the airport and follow the 183 West / 360 South curve to the right. Exit at FAA Road. The Museum is on the right.
From Fort Worth: Take Hwy 183 East and exit at FAA Road. The Museum is on the right.
From the North: Follow Hwy 360 South and exit Trinity Blvd. Stay in the left lane, and U-turn under the highway northbound to FAA Road. Turn left over Hwy 360. The Museum is ahead on the right.
From the South: Follow Hwy 360 North. Take the Trinity Blvd. / FAA Road exit. Proceed straight across Trinity Blvd. and stay on the access road northbound to FAA Road. Turn left over Hwy 360. The Museum is ahead on the right.

Are firearms, or weapons of any kind, allowed in the Museum?

No. The Museum is a weapon-free facility. As an educational institution with numerous school and educational groups and activities on Museum property, weapons are prohibited from the property pursuant to Section 46.03 of the Texas Penal Code. Additionally, pursuant to Texas Penal Code Sections 30.06 and 30.07, we have posted legal signage notifying the public that we do not permit concealed or openly-carried handguns in our facility. This applies to all team members, volunteers, guests, and vendors.

Commissioned law enforcement officers are permitted to bring duty weapons when visiting the Museum. No other persons are permitted to bring firearms or other weapons on the premises.

Persons who are not commissioned law enforcement officers found to be in possession of weapons will be asked by the Museum security staff to remove the weapon from the premises. The CR Smith Museum will not store weapons or permit them to be stored within the facility.

What can my family do at the Museum?

There’s something to do for everyone at the Museum! With over 35,000 square feet of interactive exhibits plus the esteemed, 1940’s DC-3 Flagship Knoxville airplane to board, the Museum and its main gallery offers plenty of fun, history and learning. What can I enhance my child’s Museum visit?

During your next visit, visitors ages K-12 can participate in Museum activities and earn stamps in a free passport. Once you receive 10 stamps, turn in your passport and win a prize. Eligible activities include flight simulators, Aviation Exploration Zone activities, airCRAFT, camps and workshops. Pick up your passport at the Museum gate counter during your next visit. 

Is the Museum wheelchair accessible?

Most walkways, exhibits and restrooms are wheelchair accessible at the Museum. Those requiring assistance may use the complimentary wheelchairs. Visitors wanting to use wheelchairs should visit the Museum Store and leave an ID to check out the wheelchairs. The ADA compliant entrance and designated parking is located at the back of the Museum Those requiring other special accommodations, or who would like to arrange to be met at the ADA entrance for assistance with entering, please contact 682-278-9085, or, once on site, contact the Museum Store at 682-278-9080.

What age range is appropriate?

The American Airlines CR Smith Museum is for all ages, and has something for everyone.

How long does a visit take?

There is no exact answer to this question. It all depends on the time you’re willing to invest in exploring the numerous informative facets of the Museum. First-time visitors typically spend between one to three hours.

What should we wear on a visit to the Museum?

We ask that visitors dress comfortably, and perhaps bring a lightweight jacket, as the temperatures in the museum are kept cool to ensure exhibit preservation.

Can we bring outside food into the Museum? Is food available?

We ask visitors to not bring food or beverages into the Museum. Please do not eat in the Museum, which includes the exhibit galleries, theater, hangar, or on board the DC-3 Airplane.  Guests are welcome to eat outside on the plaza, the Museum Store has water and packaged snacks available for purchase.

Education

What does the Museum do to support teachers?

The CR Smith Museum offers self-guided field trip programs in which teachers can use to enhance their school curriculum. The Museum also offers workshops and activities led by Museum educators and aligned to TEKS that are held throughout the year.

Group Visits/Field Trips

How do I determine date and availability to book my group?

You can book your group visit via our group visit page.

What is the rate for groups and how can it be obtained?

The $5 per person (child, student, adult, senior citizens) group rate is available for groups of 15 or more people. To obtain the group rate, all groups should purchase via our group visit page. At checkout, you’ll be prompted to enter the number of people in your group and enter payment information. Group admission tickets are non-refundable.

When can I make a group reservation?

We book groups on a first come, first serve basis, so as soon as you know your group would like to visit, please contact us. The Museum always appreciates advance notice for larger group visits. Groups up to 30 people should plan to make reservations at least 1 week in advance. Groups larger than 60 people should plan to make reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.

What if our group needs an invoice?

When completing the group reservation form, please check the box for requesting an invoice and provide the mailing address where indicated. Upon receipt of your reservation, the Museum will reply with a confirmation and an invoice for your visit.

What if our group needs to write a check?

Checks are to be written out to: CR Smith Museum. If mailing, please mail to: CR Smith Museum – Group Visit, P.O. BOX 619617, MD 808 GSWFA, DFW Airport, TX 75261.

Checks are to be written for the exact amount of purchase. There is a $15 processing fee for check payments. Checks are non-refundable. Check payments must be received at least 14 days prior to the scheduled visit.

What is included with group admission?

Full access to the Museum, including day programs/activities, special exhibits, movie and much more are included with the group’s admission. Please reference the group visit page to select options for your visit or to make special requests.

Can groups shop/visit in the Museum Store?

We encourage groups to visit and shop in the Museum Store. We have a large range of items that vary in pricing, including t-shirts, trinkets, toys, books, stickers and so much more! The adult-to-child ratio is 1-to-5 at any one time. Please contact the Museum Store with any questions or item inquiries: 682-278-9080 or store@crsmithmuseum.org.

Is there a place for my group to eat?

No food or drinks are permitted in the Museum gallery areas, Museum Store, Hangar, DC-3 Plane or the Museum campus as a whole.

What if I need to cancel or make changes to my group reservation?

Once the group reservation form has been submitted and a confirmation has been provided, please contact us for amendments or cancellations at: groups@crsmithmuseum.org. Please note: group admission tickets are non-refundable. Workshop registrations are non-refundable fewer than 14 days before the booked date.

Are lesson plans available for groups?

How can I select a STEM workshop for my group?

Museum staff will collaborate with your group to determine a workshop that suits your needs. Workshop options can be viewed here. Complete the group reservation form by selecting the “STEM Education workshop” option and our Education Coordinator will contact your group directly.

What are the rates for workshops?

For groups of 15 or above: Workshops are $9 per person and include general Museum admission (minimum of 15 participating students). Those not participating in workshops (chaperones, teachers, siblings, etc.) will be charged the group admission rate of $5 per person.

For groups fewer than 15: Regular admission rate applies for chaperones, teachers, students and siblings. A workshop can be booked for an additional $75.

Can groups larger than 60 schedule a workshop?

To ensure optimal guest experience, the Museum limits the number of workshop participants to 60 per day, however, groups larger than 60 can book additional workshop dates, thus allowing all members to have an opportunity to participate.

How can I volunteer at the Museum

Have a passion for aviation, want to share with the next generation? Become a Volunteer! There are many ways to support the Museum! The American Airlines CR Smith Museum greatly appreciates donations and volunteers. We believe volunteers play a vital role to the enthusiastic support of the Museum and our programs. Where does the Museum get its financial support?

American Airlines CR Smith Museum is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on revenues derived from memberships, Museum Store, event rentals, ticket sales and donations to operate. Your gift to the museum is tax deductible under the IRS code to the extent allowed by law. You can make a gift for general operating purposes or contribute for a specific purpose.  Any donation is always appreciated. Does the Museum take archival donations?

The CR Smith Museum is always interested in considering new acquisitions. If you have an item of historical nature concerning American Airlines or a subsidiary or predecessor company, please contact archives@crsmithmuseum.org.
