Ride a hovercraft, float a boat, lift, launch and levitate your way through hands-on exhibits to explore how things move by land, sea and air. Experiment with hands-on exhibits that make learning about gravity, friction, and the laws of motion fun!  Turn up the heat to launch a colorful hot air balloon, operate an authentic canal lock system to move a boat from one water level to the next, and experiment with pneumatics, pulleys, hydraulics and levers to see what kind of mechanical advantage works best.

 


 

AA Retrospective

On April 15, 1926, when Charles Lindbergh, Robertson Aircraft Corporation's chief pilot, flew a bag of mail in a DH-4 biplane from Chicago to St. Louis. This flight is regarded as the first regularly scheduled flight of what was to become American Airlines. Special Presentation

Join the C.R. Smith Museum for the second annual presentation of: "Celebrating 100 Years of Black Aviation". The presentation features original Tuskegee Airman, Donald "Don" E. Elder and author and historian C.B. Rice. Mr. Rice is an American Airlines retiree, playwright, author, and historian. Don't miss your chance to see this enlightening and educational presentation. DC-3 75th Anniversary

It all started with a phone call. CR Smith, the President of American Airlines, had an idea for improving the capacity and passenger comforts in the Douglas Commercial Aircraft, the DC-1 and the DC-2. From this, the DC-3 was born. The inaugural flight of the DC-3 was on December 17th, 1935, the 32nd anniversary of the Wright Brothers first successful flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina...
