    MISSION STATEMENT

    The American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum preserves the history of American Airlines and interprets the air transportation industry. Through its activities, the museum serves active and retired and interested members of the general public. Because of the museum’s commitment to education, its exhibits stress hands-on learning through hands-on displays. The museum collects artifacts and archival materials that are suitable for its educational and exhibit programs.

    We're Looking For A Few Good Volunteers...Become a C.R. Smith Museum Volunteer!

    The C.R. Smith Museum has a great group of enthusiastic volunteers who provide many essential services to the museum. Volunteers greet visitors, work in the Gift Shop, help with after-hours events and programs, provide tours, perform administrative duties and assist with cataloging the museum's collection. It's a fun way to get involved, meet new people and learn about the fascinating world of aviation.

    Got A Brick?

    There are plenty of more spaces that surround the legendary DC-3 Flagship Knoxville for your own personalized brick. For only $150, you can purchase a brick with up to three lines of text that will become a permanent part of the DC-3 hangar. While there are a limited number of bricks for the K-9 grid, there are plenty more in the other grids. Better yet, stop by the museum and see for yourself how great it would be to surround yourself in history.

    Donations and Sponsorships

    The C. R. Smith Museum is a separate non-profit organization that depends on revenues derived from memberships, gift shop, event rentals, ticket sales and donations to operate.

    Your gift to the museum is tax deductible under the IRS code to the extent allowed by law. You can make a gift for general operating purposes or contribute for a specific purpose if you wish. For more information about making a gift email angela.gofredo@aa.com .

    Shop and Help out

    You can benefit the museum every time you shop for groceries at Kroger and Tom Thumb. To benefit the museum (our account # is 551) at Tom Thumb, just fill out a "Good Neighbors" application and link it to your Rewards Card. At Kroger, just print this letter along with your Kroger Plus Card and they will be scanned and you will be enrolled for one year.

    Buy a brick

    The area surrounding the DC-3 Flagship Knoxville has been reserved for your friends that want to be remembered or remember someone with an engraved brick paver. This is a great way to honor or memorialize someone you love and respect. To get a brick application, click here and become a permanent part of the museum's history.
